So you are coming to Poznań to meet us. Great! 🙂 Below you will find some details that may be useful for you.
Travelling to Poznań
If you will be travelling from abroad, we recommend flying to Poznań. The Poznań „Ławica” Airport (POZ) has direct connections with many cities including Copenhagen, Frankfurt, London, Munich and Warsaw, so you should be able to find a suitable flight.
When you will be landing in Poznań, please take a look by the aeroplane window. Almost all aeroplanes landing in Poznań fly slowly at low height over the city centre. The view is really interesting.
When you will land, the best way to get to the city centre is to take a taxi. A ride from the airport to the city centre should not cost more than 45 PLN (10 EUR) during day and 50% more in the night (10 PM to 6 AM) or during holidays. Please try to take a corporate taxi like „Radio Taxi M1” or „Radio Taxi RMI” and avoid „no-name” taxis.
Alternatively you may use a city bus. Buses run from 5 AM to 10 PM, the ticket for 15 minutes ride costs 2 PLN (around 0.5 EUR) and can be bought in most kiosks. You should also have additional ticket if you are travelling with large bags etc. There are two lines from the airport to the city center:
- Line „L” – runs once per hour, ride takes about 20 minutes
- Line „59” – runs twice per hour, ride takes about 30 minutes
For travelling between larger Polish cities we recommend trains. Current connections can be searched at the Polish Railway website. Domestic flights are mostly only to/from Warsaw, so it may be faster (and cheaper) to take an Intercity train than domestic flight.
Please remember: Poland is not in the Euro zone yet, so you have to pay in Polish Złoty (PLN) or use a credit/debit card like Visa/Mastercard/Maestro etc. You should have cash prepared for most taxis. Please do not exchange larger amounts of money at the airport. The price of PLN is quite high there – it is better to find some exchange office in the city centre. There should be no additional commission for the money exchange.
Accommodation
For the accommodation we strongly recommend PSNC guest rooms which are located in the city centre, in one of PSNC’s buildings (see map at the bottom of this page). The standard is similar to the three star hotel, a single room costs 160 PLN (~40 EUR) and a double around 250 PLN (~60 EUR). The up-to-date prices are here.
If you would like to stay in a hotel we can recommend the following hotels located near the PNSC’s building:
You can also use this map to find some other hotels suitable for you.
